Get rid of Gamespy
Seriously gamespy has got to be the ♥♥♥♥tiest service for browsing servers. It doesn't provide any support for joining a friends game and for a game that's exclusive to steam that's just dumb. Last I heard gamespy was going out of business anyways. Please bohemia don't use gamespy.

Gamespy are owned by another powerfull company (a cookie if you can guess who), as opposed to which service is better than Gamespy out of interest.

That image that says "Gamespy" is just a place holder

Hoping for Steamworks integration fully, especially the server browser.

Agreed.Bohemia improved a lot of things but major problems like the server browser are still there. Steamworks with everything combined would be fantastic.

IGN, where's my cookie?

Also, Gamespy is done. however, the multiplayer services are separate from the Gamespy "network". They're still running with no intent of shutting down.

Here's to hoping for full Steam integration.

Some major stuff like the Gamespy browser which has always given me gripes in ARMA 2 still are in - here is hoping that over the course of alpha / beta, these will be removed or replaced.

don't mismatch the webzine gamespy services with gamespypowered SDK
also obviously you didn't seen gamespypowered SDK,
as it does offer friends joining system and matchmaking and much more ...
also gamespy powers quite lot of games (1000s in past decades),
some of them used also steamworks ...
we just don't use the friends system nor matchmaking from either... yet...
if we use both or just this or that is to be seen... too

Why does this sound like a riddle

Gamespy the website and network of game websites, such as Planet Hlaf-life, were shut down recently. Gamespy also has a host of server software, which is still running, since the company overseeing that is separate from what ran the network of websites.

So then that means you'll be staying with gamespy, how about favorites list and history of servers played features.

How about a server browser that's up to par with just about any game where you can 'Join a friend'. Don't see the point of a steam exclusive title not having server info available to friends.

You can easily join your friends. Just make sure when they make a server (assuming that's the route you're taking) that they have specified an open port when creating the server, otherwise joining them will be much more complicated.

I get that you're probably asking for something such as opening your steam overlay and right-click-joining, but I don't think that will be happening, at least not for a long while.

Why are they taking a step back from game development instead of just staying on par with most games...

The gamespy game browser in Arma 2 and (currently) carried over in Arma 3 alpha is outdated and not deemed useful by most users. It's no wonder there are so many 3rd party tools that generaly do a much better job (Starting with being able to actually have favourites, automatic mod, map download etc.).

I'd realy look forward to it if Arma 3 delivered a more coherent experience regarding mods, maps, tools etc.
