Is this an ARMA game yet?
iv played for over 10 years since flashpoint days and I dont know what it is but ARMA 3 seems to be missing somerthing fundumental. I dont know if its more like an arcade game now or if its the glitchy ness or simply that most servers are wasteland or life servers...

Something keeps stopping me from playing this for any where near the same amount of time I played the others.

Surely im not alone in this?

Yeah the setting really sucks. It just doesn't make any sense...

I really wish they would go back to the late 80's-90's... I hate all that portable FLIR bs.

I want Blackhawk down type of setting, Rangers, Deltas, FFL, Commando Marine, SAS, Royal Marines fighting on the Corn of Africa not that futuristic crap.

I love it.

Nailed most things properly and grateful we get some completely new stuff, and a massive island as well.

You must begin to understand, and accept, then ArmA III it's complety another game, especially if you continue compare it whit the preview editions.

BIS wanted to deliberately choose another way about this title, and to think, or belive, then step by step, one day, you will see ArmA III like a evolution about ArmA II......forget it,are not definitely in their plans!

Now you get this choices:

Accept it!

Hope for a impressive ACE mod for a giant replacement pack ArmA III.

Hope for an expansion,or DLC, to ArmA II in Arma III all inclusive vanilla!

Continue to play to ArmA II.

Or....if you like to play just in SP...install the All in ArmA and another 20 mods for come back in ArmA II edge but whit the engine of ArmA III.
[useless for who love play in MP for obvious reasons about servers!]

If i must to be honest...i miss so much Arma II,but ...it's over that time, thinking about it makes just more evil!

when you really would play since flashpoint you would know that public isnt the true status of arma. Allmost every real dedicated arma gamer has a unit and a closed server....

Lame troll post.....try harder

Your an example of the cancer that lurks in Arma's community, sooner or later people like you will ruin the franchise.

i also play this since op flashpoint days, before i had an account here i played from dvds. and i do not feel that way. we got new arma game, that has a bit different setting and time in arma universe and i adore it. we should not wish another chernarus, even in dayz people complain about map being almost the same as arma2 (which is ok by me because that's different theme and game in global). i like stratis and altis maps. altis is so huge, full od nice deserts, and really reminds me on eastern warfronts in real life. also old towns near sea, great atmosphere, something like mixture of old italian small towns and eastern ones.
on the server side, yes there are lots of rpg and sandbox servers, people prefer playing role playing these days. but no one can tell he cant find regular ones like coop aswell. there are lot of those really. at any point you can find few good coop servers to play, with any amount of player you wish.
also someone mentioned arcade game. i just can say silly.
this was great arma game since day one of alpha.

I agree that the setting kinda sucks. But could someone explain how exactly Arma 3 is arcadish? Because from what I can tell so far they are just subjective opinions, and apparently the list of improvements over Arma 2 is somehow unrealistic/arcadish.

I, for one, am glad that they got rid of mouse acceleration/deacceleration, the ackward movement with nausiating clunkiness, revamped lighting, and revamped the convoluted inventory system.

I would agree that it feels arcadish. It just doesn't feel simulator-esque. Medics are less important for one, the guns feel wierd to me, and AI fire so unhumanly it's hard for me to play. In ARMA 2, when two squads found eachother, a hailstorm of gunfire began, but in Arma 3, it feels like everyone is always shooting at the same interval, and always one shot at a time. I've never seen an AI use an assault rife in this game without their semi-auto finger.

I'm new to the Arma series and I'm genuinely sorry to say it, but I think this will be my first and last Arma 'game'. I can see what Arma aspires to be but it falls a long way short, it just feels too arcadey and has no character and no immersion. (The setting probably has a lot to do with that) It feels like it was made by someone who doesn't understand the genre.

Another killer for me is playing online; it's an absolute ♥♥♥♥ing mess. The servers are ruined by teamkillers, lone rambo's or cliques that just plain ignore you. The number of times I have logged into a server to see the base littered with burning wrecks, gear strewn about and trucks careening round in circles tooting their horns...

Dissapointed.

It's more that then that ArmA has changed. The community changed and thus the missions, the servers, the whining, the playstyle, etc.
