Breath of Death VII

After Erik joined my team, difficulty level skyrocketed
I thought this game was going to be extremely easy until Erik joined my group. Suddenly the monsters were way tougher and I was dying constantly; I had to start paying attention to combo breaks and employing more strategy in each fight. I like the uptick in difficulty, but it was awfully sudden.

Yeah the game really let's you know when you have your full party. I also think it could have been handled a bit better, but this game is still a steal at 2 bucks.

The game was perfect for me :)

I only died one time, and that was the first time I fought the "king" after getting Eric. I didn't know he was going to heal to full, so used up all my MP. He was easy the second time (both times I blinded the two skellies on his side...don't know if he resummons them or not if you kill em since I never did till he died)...the first time though I just blew through all their mp and didn't have anything left for his second life.

The second time I did make a dumb mistake though...but still ended up winning. I chose the +50% defense -50% attack as Dem's power and used it. I planned on defending on him (so he'd taunt the enemies)...but he defends AFTER everyone else attacks it's useless. Ended up doing half damage with him for the whole fight because of that.

Didn't matter with my spellcasters pounding him for over 1k a round anyway. I just mainly used Dem and Erik as backup healers with potions if needed (erik just regened everyone right at the it wasn't that important till near the end.

Main problem I have is not the difficulty...but more the time it takes to level up!! They almost force you to fight near a regen point and use your best powers...and even then it takes awhile.

I didn't personally notice a huge bump in difficulty, but I did notice that actually playing strategically properly made a good difference.

I don't know if it was because I was playing on normal, or if I was just keeping up in levels, but I didn't really use any healing at all. Had to use the true love spell about twice for the final boss, and I think once on a boss a bit before that. Otherwise I didn't bother using any potions or heal spells. I built dem and erik for damage. Had dem doing about 6300 per hit on the last boss with that double hit tech, and erik doing about 4800 with his first tech. I kind of messed up my build for Lita so she didn't do a lot of good for anything. Mostly just used her sniper skill which did about 1100.

I actually thought the opposite for leveling up though. It seemed rather easy early on, and later on it felt about right. I used up all the random battles in each area (except the main world) and had everyone at level 33 at the end.

I played through the game on hard. I had problems with only one boss in the game. (died twice on that one) This boss was the first boss after Eric joined if I remember correctly.
But after that section you should have no problem with the later bosses. Especially when Eric does 5k dmg per turn.

I just got Erik in the group and now 30-ish saves later I'm at boss that heals its self then makes me die horribly. I'm getting WORKED every step of the way and this is with the axe I got from the shop before erik that does more dmg than the one he starts with and the one you can find in the prison. Difficulty level def got bumped up a bit, either that or I horribly messed up my builds but it sounds like everyones having trouble on that first boss after erik joins so maybe my builds not that bad.

The jail actually is harder than most of the rest of the game. The Executioners can gank someone really fast if two of them decide to Decisive Chop the same person. Very little in the rest of the game hits that hard compared to your HP pool.

As for the Usurper fight, it's one of the few that doesn't respawn the backup monsters. Pretty straightforward -- nuke them on the first turn, then buff up and build a combo as fast as you can so you can use that shiny new finisher Unite to chunk off the last third of his health all at once.

I didn't buy any of the equipment in the shop before talking to the king, since I thought I'd explore the town before worrying about that.

And hell, I still die half the time i'm grinding! This is stupid!
