Yep, seems like it has to do with the score meter. On my Mac it always looked fine, but on this brand new PC, the meter that showed how long till the multiplier resets never appeared, until this ninja-update. Notbad.

After this update, Bastion is crashing on startup for me.

Bastion has had Linux support since it was in that Humble Bundle like a year ago

Hey! First and foremost this update adds the Linux version of Bastion to Steam. We've received a lot of interest from Linux users out there and it's cool to see it becoming a big thing here on Steam.

Second, we made a small update to the game that makes it so that if a new player starts the game with a compatible gamepad connected, the gamepad will be enabled automatically. This improves ease of use in Steam's Big Picture Mode though it shouldn't affect you if you've already been playing.

I hadn't used the Calamity Cannon in awhile, and when I used it just now it seems to have autotargeting capabilities like the other weapons, which I don't recall it having before. Was this just added, or did I just miss it earlier?
