this game is boring
why would you waste your time playing Bastion when you can play better games than this?

i am honestly curious, why do you like this game so much

all you do is kill enemies in a horrible camera setting

Obviously not everyone likes the same games--I think Counterstrike is boring because all you do is kill enemies in a boring setting. (Incidentally, Bastion's viewpoint is known as isometric, and I think it's a great camera setting for this particular game.)
The reasons I like this game are that it has one of the best stories, and one of the best-told stories, I have encountered in a video game, the art is beautiful, the music is amazing, the narrator is great, and the world is interesting. I also like the combat, though I understand that it is probably not going to be the main draw to anyone.

It's not a horrible camera setting, it's called an isometric view, and is used by many games, both indie and AAA. Just because you don't like its camera doesn't mean its objectively bad.

And if 'just killing enemies' is bad game design, then Half Life, Counterstrike, Diablo, Torchlight, Devil May Cry, God of War, Bayonetta, Call of Duty, Battlefield and Dead Space are all bad games by the same logic, because killing enemies is pretty much all you do in those games.

We like the game because we think that the combat is good, the narrative is good, the lore, music and art are all good, and the game's narrator has a great voice. That's just our opinion, of course.

i dont know, i can't figure out why i don't like this game. the combat is nice, with the secondary weapon and the variety of weapons and upgrades you can pick. i don't think i like the idea of choosing an area to play instead of walking there yourself, like skyrim. also this game makes the player feel lonely af, and games that make you lonely are best implementing horror elements. dead space made you feel lonely, but it didnt use all of these cute hand-drawn art. the only game i enjoyed that had this "cute" artsyle was Maplestory, only because of its strong social feeling it evoked

the game also doesn't necessarily encourage exploration, if there is one. it should have been purely 3D instead of isometric. just imagine playing dark souls but with the gameplay and art and music (etc) of Bastion. wouldn't that be SO MUCH ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BETTER? and also imagine if instead of picking an area of the map to go to, YOU ACTUALLY get to travel there on foot/horse/whatever, just like you did in Zelda.

this game just had major design flaws. it should have been free 3D mode, expanded the game by adding exploration mechanic (semi freeroam), and more NPCs to interact with, if this art style was going to be kept. Also one very major flaw is the voice actor for the boy. just imagine if it were the same voice actor that voiced the young Link in OOT. I mean look at the boy, he looks like a 10 year old with the voice of a justin bieber with puberty.

Dude, you do realize that this game was made by an indie developer, right? Your complaints are utterly biased. I think that Dead Space should've been made in an isometric camera because ... well, why the hell not? It's okay to not like a certain game, but if you don't have some sort of the "normal" reasons, don't ramp out that kind of crap, please.

So, you don't like level-based design, and would rather have an open or semi-open world, which of course would allow for the exploring you also want. That would be great for some games, but considering the areas the kid goes to usually fall apart once he takes their core, I don't think it would work very well. If you can't deal with separate levels, that's unfortunate, because they're needed for certain types of games.
More NPCs: again, I don't think you're paying attention to the story. Most people are dead. That's why there aren't more NPCs in the game.
As far as 3D art style goes, I have nostalgia for the old 2D isometric look, so I loved it. That said, the lack of 3D was due to the limitations of being a small indie company. SuperGiant Games has just announced their next game, Transistor, and since they made a bunch of money off Bastion, they have hired a 3D artist for that game.
Your final criticism doesn't make any sense, and makes me wonder if your biggest problem is inability to comprehend the game. The "boy," who is always called "The Kid" in the game, never speaks. The narrator you hear is the old man, Rucks (at first called The Stranger). And his voice is perfect.

holy god, I'm sorry but I have to ask, how old are you? because everything you have complained about or said wasn't good about this game is something I would expect from a 15-17 year old who only plays the main titles. Everyone here has been extremely polite and explained why other people liked it. If you were honestly wondering why people like it then you would have been satisfied with the very well written answers that you got. After your second post it just seems like you are trying to get a rise out of someone without being obvious about it.

#3 Those are NOT design flaws. Those are just personal preferences of yours that have given you strange expectations for the game.
