How would that even work? Going to hook up two keyboards and two mice to the same computer and then get all cramped in front of the computer screen?

-_- He means in a multiplayer game they can see each others' screen, not hooked together. :P

The problem with that is:

1. the consle version only holds 8-player multiplayer; that is easy to view, however, PC can hold 255 people; hard to view
2. it is much harder to see with another view blocking your own

what i mean is with xbox controllers. and only allow like 4-6 at most. cause you could do it witth portal 2 (yes i know it is only 2 people). so the capability is there. its just PC gamers are usually alone. but my labtop could easily run 4 people on terraria. i know veiw is a problem. but the xbox and ps3 can get that way to. and what i mean (srry if im restating this) is offline, once again like portal 2

I don't see your point. Split screen isn't made for "255 people", it's usually made for 2-4. This can work just as well on the PC as it would on any other device. Don't forget you can rig your PC to display on a television set rather than on your monitor - it's not that hard. Also remember that it's entirely possible for multiple input devices(gamepads exemplary) to be hooked into and used on a PC, so 2-4(or more)-player splitscreen could very well work provided your PC is powerful enough and your display is large enough for comfort.

What do you mean? I don't recall ever playing any game with split screen having one player's view instance override or block another player's.

I'm not saying split-screen is made for 255 people. 255 is the maximun allotted on a server; thus being very awkward to run splitscreen. Are you EVER going to be on a server with that many people? No. But the more that are on, the harder splitsceen would be.
__ I'm not saying another view would block your own, but you only get 1/2 1/4 or even 1/8 of a sceen to look at...
__This idea would have it's benefits on a private 4-6 player server; nowhere else. (Unless you rigged a split-sceen with certain players)
One final thing, am I flaming you? No.

How so? You don't really need any more than 4 or 6 on split screen, and rendering 4 different scenes won't be terribly difficult even on servers with a dozen or two people on.

Well, that's not much of a problem since a marginal amount of people own multiple displays and connect them together, use their television set as a display or own one display of a high resolution & screen size.

You're still being vague. How wouldn't split screen be just as viable for multiplayer? Assuming you can use splitscreen on a server hosted on the internet.

Where did this come from? I neither stated nor implied you were "flaming" me.

PEOPLE what in the beyond ♥♥♥ are you talking about. i ment offline, on a server you only see the ones that your computer is rendering, not running other peoples screens. that is what i mean
