Terraria with controller
Is it possible to play Terraria using controller instead of keyboard and mouse?
(actually I know the answer, but I want to ask your opinion)

You would need to have a keymapping program for that to work, no way to do so natively. The only way to get official controller support is to buy the console version, which works great. I have both a PC copy and a PS3 copy, and I love the controller scheme on the PS3. I wish that the PC version had the option built in, but it does not. I am hoping the next update will have this option, but I am not holding my breath.

Well I was hoping that it had it. My friend on the
PS3 was raving about all the fun that he was having with this & I had found the demo fun enough I suppose. Don't imagine that I'll play this to much without the controller supported, but I'll try to mess with it a bit.

Do you have a ps3 controller? With motionjoy you can keymap a dualshock 3 plugged in via usb and have the same controls as ps3! (:

I've felt for awhile that the game should be the same on PC / Console / iOS / Vita etc..
I'd love to see controller supported on PC. I prefer the mouse and keyboard but I don't always want to be sitting in an office chair. My lap and a couch cushion are pretty craptastic platforms for playing on the couch with a keyboard and mouse.

Maybe I should just invest in a nice hospital bed with all the adjustable shelves and of course a bedpan.

Have you played the console version? It's very different - you can't just map it.

what sort of software do you use to make the controller work with it?

I'd love to see xbox controller native support on this.

4 player local co-op is a blast in this game. It is a damned shame they do not offer the same setup (which would require native controller support) on the PC. More local co-op needs to make its way to the PC, then I wouldnt need to buy consoles :)

I can't stand the Console version, takes FOREVER to build with those controls, plus, no servers with special commands, and not to mention 1.2! <3 Terraria, stick with a Keyboard (Just my pinion, they're faster)

I have "Genious" controller. And I use JoyToKey while playing Binding of Isaac or Castle Crashers or so. Well, it looks like I have to boy console version of Terraria to play with controller. Thanks.)

@Bluehawker: Although I've never tried it with Terraria, I find that XPadder works great to run my controller for Realm of the Mad God, another game that desparately needs controller support but doesn't have it...

XPadder can be obtained at www.xpadder.com for $10 iirc.
