Here's how to fix it:
Go to your Terraria folder.
C:/Users/(your user name)/Documents/My Games/Terraria
Open your Players folder and find the character file that has been highlighted in red in the game's title screen menu.
Now, there are two things you can do:
1) Right-click on the file and a menu should show up. Select "Restore previous version." That should solve your problem.
2) If the "Restore previous version" option doen't appear in the menu, then look for a copy of your corrupted character file that has the ".plr.bak" file extension on it. You can remove the ".bak" part of the file extension and that file should become useable. You can then start up your game, select the uncorrupted version of your character, and use it. A new duplicate character file with the ".plr.bak" file extension will be created once you've used your uncorrupted character file. It might also help if you delete your corrupted character file after creating your new uncorrupted character file from the ".plr.bak" duplicate.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
Crap. I'm afraid to say I don't think anything else can be done, then. You'll need to create a new character. And remember to back your files up regularly by copying them to an external location outside of your harddrive lie a disk or a flashdrive.
Sorry.
What do I do with Dan.plr.bad file?
