Age Of Empires 2 HD vs Age Of Empires 3

We bought AOE 2 HD but we tried to play online with 3 friends and were both lagging, we tried fixing it with ports and stuff but we didnt manage to do something, So these 50 Euros are long gone! We all have great internet connections so the lagg we have isnt serious! Is it worth spending money for AOE 3 or the servers are the same and we will prob lagg again?

If the game works then it has nothing to do with ports. #2 will tell you in lobby if there is a problem between players that will affect the game, plus you can see their pings. In #3 you can see their connection bar, which is like seeing their ping.

I noticed that even with someone's bad connection #2 will have instant response time for unit actions, while #3 never does. I think that's due to how games detect player inputs and stuff. Idk, I forgot the terminology for it.

#3 is a work of art, and is worth the money. It's a different era of combat though, the setting. I'd say get it regardless.

So about your lag, was this vs each other or the AI? I noticed that late game the AI seems to calculate super slow if there's alot of things going on or it doesn't know what to do because it's pathfinding got messed up (like by walls). Vs people i've never seen it go that bad, not even close.

Or I don't know what i'm talking about...
