So steam is gonna allow them to scam us?
So basically whatI've read so far is the game is shutting down. So any amount of money you spent isn't getting refunded and you can't play the game... Great Job microsoft you ruin just about everything you touch on the pc. Waste of money I spent . Back to AGE 3.

but see, it CAN be transfered to steam. but that would require a team micrsoft to cheap to do that. so they say "screw these guys" and take are money

They gave a year notice... it's not like they suddenly shut it down.

Your profile says you have played a massive 5.2hrs. Are you just complaining for the sake of it?

Are you kidding? Every game is allowed to shut down and you never get your spent money refunded in any game. Thats how all MMO's work for over 10 Years. If you dont like this then dont play games like this. You purchased content in the game and not the game. The game itself is free.

they are just greedy. Promise everything, make a few patches while selling stuff.
then selling stuff is over and they instantly close the game down
EA has the same business practice.
What they fail to calculate is the money it costs them because people dont like them anymore now. They like to think that those missing customers are due to piracy when i reality a lot of people just dont want their games anymore.

Other companies like Sony or Blizzard have games up for much longer.
Sony had Vanguard mmo that like 10 people played running for years.
EQ1 still runs.
Diablo2 still has online mode, as does starcraft 1.

Where do we begin.... a completely bad launch coupled with marketing (and a website) that indicated it was basically Farmville, combined with a game that would have been better served having another year of development instead of having to do just that in production. Then there was server merges, which basically means the game is dying and it's a last ditch effort to save it.

I'm amazed that it lasted as long as it did, since AoEO basically started as a trainwreck then straightened itself out. Unfortunately, the PR damage had already been done, and it was in a financially unsalvageable situation when it finally got to being a good game.

The real reason it's dying is because it's a Game for Windows Live, which is a program that Microsoft killed, which means that AoEO must go down with the Titanic. Everything else is just many nails in the coffin.

This is how I feel... Windows Lives... lol

The real reason why its dead is incause some which arent even playing this where spreaeding some rumors about an bad game etc. Even if it was good. Microsoft belived in rumors more then in their customers. And then MS coins .. that was the 2nd reason. An expensive scam. so MS killed it.

I liked the game... wasn't my favorite of them all but it was unique and the fact that I spent a hefty chunk of money just to get "civs" and then they turn around and say hey we're closing down, sucks for all that bought it type deal just goes to show microsfot is truly a bad gaming pc company. I meen look at ESO....Something was good and MS came in and ca-put... I meen they need to put it over to steam, but that would require MS to use some money... Can't have that happen can they.
