Just beat the game and damn can it be frustrating!
There's just so many cheap attacks in this and even on normal I found myself playing some parts over and over and over again...still it was a good beat 'em up and I enjoyed it!

Use the shotgun and learn to dodge
Honestly the trick for me was using faster weapons, dodges, and going after the most dangerous enemies first (ranged). The knives are superior (IMO) to the handguns, and the swords are superior to the shotgun/chainsaw (again IMO). Because they throw a bunch of enemies at once its rare you get the time to complete a combo with the slower weapons without having to break mid-combo or dodge. Using the less powerful but faster weapons allows you to get in and out of engagements without taking damage.

Only for the final boss did I switch to the sledgehammer for a bit more punch (because you have to be very quick with attacks and combos tend to get quickly countered), but for the rest of the game you can get by easily with the starting weapon loadout.

One other thing is that I prefer playing this game with a controller. Same for the first one too honestly. Keyboard and mouse can be awkward for this game at least for me. Other than that...fun action packed game. Can't go wrong with a good animated side scroller hack n slash.
