If you buy the DLC on Steam, can you use it on a non steam purchased version???
As the title states, If I buy the DLC here and I purchased the main game elsewhere, will the DLC work?

Nope, you have to have the base game from steam to use the dlc.... It will inform you of the during the purchase process

I wonder if the files from the dlc can just be copied into the Amalur folder to circumvent that. I mean, It does not actually look at where it was bought at right? It's more of a matter of the software management system i.e. Steam, Origin etc. (Im just guessing and throwing some ideas out there).

Could be right on that one, as long as it is tied to your EA account

not sure exactly how the DLC's are handled but I do know the base game has to be on steam

you could try using the cd key and activating/add base game to steam library and then the dlc's would all be automatic

Did you buy the DLC's yet?

Jack, Steam games are incompatible with most non steam DLC and Steam DLC is ALWAYS incompatible with non steam games. It's actually quite strange that you were able to purchase DLC for a game you didn't own on Steam, normally the client/website should automatically prevent that, unless you bought it as a gift.

You can contact Steam support and tell them that you were able to purchase DLC for a game you did not own but that the store page did not warn you that it would not work. They might give you a refund. Alternatively, Contact EA support with your proof of purchase and they might give you Origin copies of the DLC on your account (They are trying like mad to get us to use Origin). Good luck.

But what if you do this https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2219-YDJV-5557
So you have non-steam game added on your account, can you still not purchase DLC for that game?
