Come on King's Quest
When KQ6 made it into Game Informer's top 100 (200?) games of all time, I jumped around and screamed. :3 And now the entire collection is on Steam and by the gods I hope more people buy it. But nooo, people are too stupid nowadays to appreciate story-driven point-and-clicks. Poor Loom only has six hub entries so far. Buy King's Quest, if only for the sixth game alone. The KQ universe is magical and lonely, as if the characters exist just for you. Make sure to keep a pencil and paper around for notes.

I know how you feel. I am that way with the Quest for Glory series, and would have liked to have seen that on Steam.

Sadly, I don't think too many appreciate the old, classic point-and-click titles from the days when people had Windows 3.1 processors with DOS Prompt.

Kings Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow was simply a masterpiece. The plot was simple enough, and the story obviously influenced by Disney animated motion pictures. But the gameplay was excellent.

It's depressing to think a lot of people don't know about this great game anymore, or even the entire Kings Quest series. There's a lot of great games from the past that should be on Steam, but for some reason, they're not on there.

No game today compares with Kings Quest VI. The new games lack charm and overall depth.

PLEASE RELEASE THIS FOR MAC. I wanna play these again so badly.

Not gonna happen. Those Mac versions were all written on the old chipset, the only way to play them is with an emulator. This collection uses the DOSBOX emulator, so technically, you could buy this for Windows, then use DOSBOX on your Mac to load the game directories. Only KQ7 is the windows version, all the others are the DOS versions.

Or do what I did, use Bootcamp to install Windows 8 Developers edition for free. Then upgrade to Win8 Pro retail for $40. They are giving that special price until January.

I have been playing King's Quest since ... as early as I can remember. It was one of the first game series that I ever got into. That being said, a lot of them were quite frustrating.... especially the King's Quest 6... (I think) with the mountain puzzles and so forth. You almost needed a strategy guide or walkthrough just to get through the games. King's Quest 7 was the only King's Quest that I actually got through with no walkthrough or anything.

anyway, I'll pick this up if it's super cheap... like in the sub 5.00 range... but not for 15 bucks. Nostalgia is good and all, but there have to be limits.:D

I wish they had actually done something to upgrade these for modern versions of windows instead of making us jump through hoops to install patches unavailable on Steam. I loved each and every KQ game when I was a kid, and several other classic DOS games, but these are practically unplayable on Win7.

Not to advertise for "the enemy" but GOG.com's got the KQ/SpaceQuest/QFG/PoliceQuest collection up for like, 22 bucks or something right now. You can pick what you want separately for half off; I think that makes it like, five bucks per three games. Good deal.

i love these old games and it seems like TellTale r the only ones keeping this gameplay style alive nowadays. If it were available, i would absolutely still be playing Quest for Glory series, Beavis and Butthead: Virtual Stupidity, Hugo's House of Horrors series, Leisure Suite Larry Series(minus the console versions)...

i played through kings quest 5 and it realy was great, one dead end, but thats excusable
BUT this collection is total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
-Features, long ago implemented by fans aren`t included
-Only english dub for KQ 7 ( german dub was brilliant )
-And the still active copy protection in, i think it was game 4 ruined this collection for me

I think the people arent not appreciating these classics but punish this ♥♥♥♥ty port to new systems.

The fact that this is one of the worst, if not the worst, release of the KQ games as a collection really doesn't help newcomers appreciate adventure games.

Coming from someone who owns the 1994 and 1997 collections, I feel they just slapped it together without really testing or knowing much about the original content.

At minimum and taking into account present updates, it should now be:
- KQ1 AGI & SCI patched vers.
- KQ6 Windows CD ver. set to run in ScummVM
- KQ7 updated and bug-fixed
- More optimal DosBox settings w/ updated DosBox

Not to mention stuff just missing from the previous collections... game files, artwork, some videos, etc. And, why not throw in KQ8?

Sad to say, but most fans could spend two days putting together a better "KQ Collection" than this.
