Has KQI been been updated or something?

This is definitely a noob question: I've only played KQV. It was the only game we had on the family Tandy 1000 growing up. Now that I have this collection, I'm going back to look at I-IV, and I'm noticing that KQI looks better than II, III or IV. Why is that? II, III and IV look like Oregon Trail, but I looks halfway decent. Is this the way the games looked upon release, or has the first game been enhanced for the collection?

I dont know what you played when you where younger, but the "update" is probably just the vga version

yes kq1 was updated many years later after 2,3 and 4
