Try it. If Steam won't accept the key you can still download it from the developer website.

It's not currently psosible to add your ArtRage key to Steam, but you can download the latest version from our website.

Is this going to change anytime soon? I'd like the convenience of it being in my Steam library for reinstalling without using up serial keys if I change computers or want to run it on multiple computers (of my own as often it is more convenient to use my macbook, but windows is better for when I'm making games.) At the same time I'm wary of having software locked into Steam because apparently you don't technically own it and can only run it with Steam running etc. It isn't a huge deal but I can't make up my mind where to buy it from and I doubt it would be very difficult to do given GameMaker offer free Steam keys when you buy on the website.

I don't want to buy on Steam and find that a free Steam key is offered later but not retroactively.

Also I think it is cheaper if I buy direct from the site because I'm in the UK and hopefully the dollars will convert instead of there being a UK price.

I am wondering how serial keys work with ArtRage. Is there a limit? Because I know with GameMaker having it on Steam is very useful since you only get 3 uses of the key and those can be used up easily if you use multiple computers or your hard drive dies etc. If this is not an issue with ArtRage then I would be less worried and get it from the website.

But both would be optimal. I have not bought software (besides Game Maker) before and so it is quite a big step for me, I'd like to feel secure in it!

I don't have a specific date for when this will occur at this point, but we are looking into it as we continue to develop the software.

If we were to make keys available on Steam, we would intend for this to be retroactive.

There is a price in GBP in our store and on the Steam store, and those prices should be the same. ( Barring minor differences for how the different stores do their currency conversion ).

You can install either the Steam version or version from our website on additional computers for your own use. We don't impose a limit on using the serial number on multiple systems for your own use.

I hope that's of some help!
