We released a second update on November 2 to address a problem that caused floating panels to move when using controls inside them.
We received some reports of problems running ArtRage Studio Pro on OS X 10.9 Mavericks and we've just released an update that should address this. The update will only download for OS X users and the following issues are addressed:1. Canvas Window Updates.
The canvas window was not updating during painting on 10.9, we've made a change to the underlying window code that should address this.2. Popup panels having problems on multi-monitor systems.
A couple of problems appeared when using popup panels such as the Layers panel on multi-monitor systems. Two problems were encountered, one was resolved the other requires a workaround in some situations.First:
Popup Panels would vanish when dragged off their initial monitor on to a second screen. This has been resolved in the latest update.Second:
Panels not appearing when opened.
Changes to the way multi-monitor support is handled in OS X 10.9 Mavericks mean that there is one issue that cannot be resolved internal to ArtRage at this point in time.
In situations where you have more than one monitor on your computer, and the external monitor is set to be laid out to the right
of the main monitor, and ArtRage is launched on the main
monitor, panels that appear at the right hand side of the ArtRage window such as Layers and Swatches may not appear when opened.
We have been researching this and at this point it appears to be an OS level problem. There are three workarounds:
- Move the second monitor to the Left of the main monitor in your Monitor Layout.
- Move the main ArtRage window to the Second monitor. Note that this may still result in the panels being invisible sometimes though it appears to resolve the problem for the most part.
- Turn off 'Displays have separate Spaces' (see below).
One other issue can occur with multi-monitor systems. If ArtRage is positioned on a secondary monitor laid out to the right of the primary monitor floating panels dragged to the primary monitor may vanish during drag. They should appear again when the app is restarted but may vanished when dragged further. Turning oon 'Displays have separate Spaces' also resolves this issue.Display Spaces.
10.9 introduces the concept that each Display has its own set of Spaces. This appears to be causing the problem with panels not being visible when opened. To turn this feature off, open up the Settings app from the Dock and in the Mission Control section turn off 'Displays have separate Spaces'. This causes the different monitors to share the same Space and allows panels to open correctly.
